“Check Your Watch”
“Jesus saith unto him, Go thy ways; thy son liveth. And the man believed…And they said unto him, Yesterday at the seventh hour the fever left him.” John 4:50 & 52b
The gentleman with the sick son was called a nobleman by the Scriptures. This truth needs to be riveted home in our hearts—everyone in this life, no matter whether a rich potentate or a poverty-stricken beggar, all of us are open to problems and troubles…quite often. By the way, God knows all about it and is able to do anything He wants with our lives, our families, loved ones and friends. Our heavenly Father knows what is best for you and me, even though, some things we enjoy or endure, they all are for our earthly, spiritual benefit.
The gentleman left the presence of the only person in the world that could save his son’s life and “the man believed the word that Jesus had spoken unto him, and he went his way (vs. 50). So, on the road of faith, heading home, he was met by his excited servants, rejoicing and exclaimed, “Thy son liveth” (vs 51b). Yes, I know they didn’t have a wristwatch; however, there were sundials and perhaps some distinctive ways to tell time. They replied that, “Yesterday at the seventh hour the fever left him” (52b). The nobleman knew and he and his whole household became believers (vs. 53)! I guess so!!
The second miracle Christ performed was duly noted in John’s book and you too, have had some miracles in your life—check your watch, calendar and remember and rejoice!!
